Using the Recycle Bin

The Recycle Bin provides a safety net before aliases are permanently deleted. When you recycle an alias, it becomes inactive immediately and is scheduled for automatic permanent deletion after 30 days.

Moving an Alias to the Recycle Bin

  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Ensure you are viewing your "Active Aliases".
  3. Find the alias you want to recycle.
  4. In the "Actions" column, click the Recycle button (it looks like a trash can).
  5. Confirm the action when prompted.
  6. The alias will disappear from the "Active Aliases" list and will now appear in the "Recycle Bin" view.

Viewing the Recycle Bin

On the Dashboard, click the "Recycle Bin" tab above the aliases list to view all recycled aliases.

Recycled aliases show their original details, when they were recycled, and when they are scheduled to expire (permanently deleted).

Restoring an Alias

You can restore a recycled alias anytime before its 30-day expiry date.

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click the "Recycle Bin" tab.
  2. Find the alias you want to restore.
  3. In the "Actions" column, click the Restore button.
  4. You will be prompted whether you also want to re-activate the alias immediately for forwarding. Choose "OK" to restore and activate, or "Cancel" to restore it as inactive.
  5. The alias will be moved back to your "Active Aliases" list with the chosen status ("Active" or "Inactive").

Permanent Deletion

Aliases in the Recycle Bin are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after they were recycled. This action cannot be undone.

You can also choose to permanently delete an alias immediately from the Recycle Bin:

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click the "Recycle Bin" tab.
  2. Find the alias you want to delete permanently.
  3. In the "Actions" column, click the "Delete Permanently" button.
  4. Confirm the action when prompted. This action is immediate and irreversible.

Warning: Once an alias is permanently deleted (either automatically after 30 days or manually), it is gone forever. It cannot be recovered, and emails sent to it will bounce.

Automatic Deletion

Aliases left in the Recycle Bin may be automatically and permanently deleted after a set period (e.g., 30 days) as part of our data cleanup process. If you might need an alias again, it's best to restore it.
